OBEY: Tayshaun for All-Star Posted by pistonsnation at 5:16 pm

Michael Curry said it, now it’s time for us the, Pistons Nation, to make it happen.  Let’s start early campaigning for Tayshaun Prince to be a member of the all-star team this season.  Tayshaun has been overlooked long enough.  The Olympic team was the first step, now let’s put all-star on the Palace Prince’s resume.

I know it’ll be hard for Tayshaun to overtake the likes of LeBron James or Paul Pierce in the fan vote, but if we get the word out enough hopefully it’ll put enough pressure on the all-star coaching staff to name Tay as an all-star reserve.

Above is the unoffical Tayshaun for NBA All-Star campaign poster.  It’s a play off of OBEY’s Obama poster which I’m sure most of you have seen.  I got the idea from after seeing Tony.psp’s Don Nelson rendition over at GSoM.

Remember too that there’s also an important vote going down on Tuesday that you should also participate in.

The Palace recently recorded their 200th consecutive sellout. Here’s a video that highlights all the history that’s gone on since January 19th, 2004, which is a lot! Check it out.

Samb speaks Posted by pistonsnation at 3:08 pm

Check out some highlights from Cheikh Samb’s debut with the Mad Ants from 12/13 (Pistons Night). Cheikh still speaks limited English but he did say a few words after the game, which he didn’t do after his coming out game vs. the Lakers. Unfortunatley we’ll not get anymore Samb highlights for awhile as he’ll be recovering from having his two front teeth knocked out.

Where photoshop happens Posted by pistonsnation at 1:13 pm

I’ve been messing around with creating Pistons vector art and thought I’d share it with you, the Nation readers, in hopes of inspiring more of you to give this a try the way I was when I happened onto the the Golden State Warriors’ blog goldenstateofmind.com and seen this tutorial by their resident vector artist Tony.psp.

There’s three main reasons I do this blog. 1) Because I love Pistons’ basketball dating back to the Bad Boy days 2) My love for Pistons’ hoops makes me want to seek out others with similar interests, hence the Nation! 3) I’ve always been a creative/artistic person and this blog gives me a place to express that creativity.

Now I wouldn’t exactly going to call this a “tutorial” because I’m not really going to take you step-by-step, but I’ll give you tips that have helped me develop my particular style, then the ball is in your court so to speak. Individual style is something that Tony.psp stresses and I think that’s what makes this a fun thing to learn because even though you can have two different artists doing the same pic it’ll turn out different depending on how the artist interprets colors, shapes, and shadows, and also how much detail you’re looking to put into it. Click “continue reading” and prepared to be hooked.

George BlaHAHAHA Posted by pistonsnation at 1:55 pm

I was scanning through some Pistons stuff I recorded and came across a real gem. It comes from a December 2005 game when the Trailblazers were visiting the Palace. In this one it’s not what you see, but what you’ll hear. Let’s just say George Blaha was not used to calling then Blazers’ rookie Jared Jack’s name and some unintentional comedy ensues. What’s as good is the intentional humor quick thinking Bill Laimbeer follows up with. You can tell Blaha must have been laughing to himself because it takes him awhile to speak again and he kind of chuckles at the end. Happy Monday, and enjoy!

Rivalry propaganda (Boston Celtics) Posted by pistonsnation at 2:57 pm

The Celtics are looking for a season presenting sponsor, a marketing concept that was pioneered by the Detroit Pistons and their sponsor Rock Financial. It’s a close guarded secret as to who’s actually going to become the highly sought after sponsor of the leagues new darling, but PN has the inside scoop on who it will be…

Danny Ainge's 3 star Bistro

Boston Celtics’ games will now be brought to you by Ainge’s Bistro. Like the Celtics, little known Ainge’s Bistro has a proud tradition, and boasts three star accomodations. Ainge’s is famous for having no bench…seating that is, all guest enjoy soft padded appointments.

Being the official sponsor didn’t come cheap. Ainge’s admits that the investment is a gamble, but hopefully one that’ll pay dividends.

Rivalry propaganda (Cleveland Cavaliers) Posted by pistonsnation at 1:19 pm

Ok, one thing I’m excited about is the potential rivalry with the emerging Cavs. We’re 1-1 in playoff series with those jokers to the south. I want this rivalry, it’s what the game has been missing. I want to hate them like I did the Celtics and then the Bulls. I’ll respect LeBron’s game like I did Jordan’s, but I’ll still despise him. I’ll detest that flopp’n fool Varejao like I’m sure other team’s fans must have done Laimbeer.

So, I’m doing my part to get this divisional rivalry a kick start. I offer up the below pic to be captioned by you Pistons Nation. (I’ve already got dibs on “Ballz don’t lie!” btw)

Oh, and here’s some bonus artillery when dealing with those pesky Cavs fans.

Simpsonized Posted by pistonsnation at 1:46 pm

Rasheed Wallace SimpsonizedBall DOH! lie! Here’s my best attempt at “Simpsonizing” Rasheed Wallace. This is something the Simpsons people have set up to build more hype for their new movie. I picked Sheed because he has a distinct look about him. I would have have attempted more Pistons but it’s just too time consuming. If you’d like to Simpsonize a Piston or yourself go to this site . You’ll need a color photo (head shot) that is a minimun of 640×480 with good contrast. I warn you, this process can be a major pain in the ass, but pretty cool when you get it to work (it almost felt like a video game I was trying to defeat). The site can be quirky. It’ll probably reject most of your photos and it can take awhile because everyone and their brother is Simpsonizing themselves. I started with myself and it actually bears a pretty good resemblence. So try it out (you must have patience I warn you) and come back and post your results here.

If you get frustrated with that here’s an easier site to use. You can make anime-like avatars. Here’s my attempt at Chauncey Billups.
