The best Jason Maxiell story you probably haven’t heard

Posted by pistonsnation

I, as well as many of you, read the blurb over the summer about Jason Maxiell getting hitched to his longtime fiance Brandi.  What I never remember reading about was how Brandi was an ovarian cancer survivor and that Jason helped her beat the disease.

Remember a couple of years ago when Maxy was sporting the clean shaven head?  It was not to look more intimidating, it was to show his support to a loved one that was beginning chemotherapy.  That loved one was Brandi:

“It’s something that I have no idea what they’re going through,” Maxiell said. “So I did this to show them my support.”

What a great story. I wish it had gotten more coverage, especially in light of all the various cancer awarenesses lately. Memo to msm: drunk driving and spousal abuse aren’t the only newsworthy stories.
