Press Clippings

Just a few odds and ends to get through as we A) Root for Chauncey and the Nuggets to win it all, B) Wait for Joe D to finagle a stud from another roster and totally redeem himself for the Cryverson deal.
Sheed (reportedly) wants $8 mill or he’s outty 5000- On the stength of the Chauncey Billups trade Nugget’s VP of Basketball Operations Mark Warkenstien won the NBA’s Exec. of the Year Award. As stated in mid-April Joe Dumars was awarded the ‘Executive Assist Leader’ and will be presented a framed copy of this screen cap:
- CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! CHRIS PAUL! We hit upon the Hornets looking to shed some contracts to keep afloat in this shaky economy. They were saying Tay & Rip for David West, and we
fantasizedsaid only if you throw in CP3, well Drew Sharpe of the Free Press is thinking along those same lines. Sharpe acknowledges that it’s a long shot but ya know you’ll miss 100% of the long shots you never take. Look into it Joe. Hornets Hype suggests we back off the pipe.
Antonio McDyess is sure going to be on a lot of contenders free-agent short lists after a resurgence of sorts this season. All though we’d love to see him retire in the red, white, and Pistons’ blue you can’t help but wish nothing but the best for Dice whatever he decides this summer. If you scroll down the page you’ll see Mehmet Okur has a player opt out option in his contract. His first choice would be with the team that made him an all-star, but he knows that the game is also a business.- After a failed intervention attempt that enlisted the help of the Triangular One himself, Dennis Rodman is now ready to seek help for his addiction to being a walking drunken orgy.
- What to do with the 15th pick? A. Sherrod Blakely profiles Louiville’s Terrance Williams in the first of his potetnial Piston prospects (try it 5 times fast). Williams is a 6′6, 220 lb. athletic wing, something the Pistons could definitely use.
- Life would be a lot easier for the ‘Stonz if they had a true 3-ball assassin, especially with Rasheed more than likely out the door(see bullet point #1). Keith Langlois at Pistons.com takes a look at some of the best 3pt marksmen who may be available to rock the Detroit threads. Speaking of Keith Langlois, Motown String Music scored a nice Q&A session with the Pistons official beat writer.
- It’s officially official. LeBron James is your 2009 NBA MVP. Even with that credential up on the mantle it’s still kind of a pretentious move crab signing your gear “King James“, to another star athlete no less.
- A real nice video gesture from the Pistons to their fans.
