Damn it Joe!

” ‘Cause I’m already gone
And I’m feelin’ strong
I will sing this vict’ry song
woo, hoo,hoo,my my woo,hoo,hoo”
I understand the team was complacent. I get that the money should help the the ‘Stonz for years to come. But, damn it Joe, why’d you have to trade Chauncey!
I’ve officially become a member of the ‘Pile on Dumars Club’. Frustration has set him like Varejoa’s perm highlights.
This season has been a disaster. Allen Iverson was a joke. We’re an eight seeded team being embarrassed by a division rival in the opening round of the playoffs.
Meanwhile on the other side of the country OUR playoff hero is doing his thing for the for another team. Chauncey is doing the Hornets like the LeBron is doing us.
| FG% | 3PT% | FT% | REB | STL | AST | TO | PPG | |
| 60% | 80% | 100% | 2.5 | 1.0 | 6.0 | 0.0 | 33.5 |
Look at these numbers! Denver is where amazing is happening. Yeah, the critics were right. Chauncey has lost a step…
This is as painful as watching your long time girlfriend on the arm of another dude, and you never wanted to break it off in the first place. Damn, she’s looking good. Why couldn’t we just have made it work??

I feel your pain, and I’ve agreed with you in the past.
But, I’ve been convinced that trading CB will eventually prove to be the right move.
The convincing argument for me was this: The trade to Denver reinvigorated CB. The CB that is currently torching N.O. had been M.I.A. in Detroit since the ‘05 Playoffs.
And we can’t ignore that, as much as we want to.

I can definitely concede that. But, we would not be in this position (on the court) with any version of Mr. Big Shot.
He will soon fail the Nuggets. I garun SHEED it!

A 54 win season, a #2 seed in the West, a whole roster of increased production on both ends of the floor, and a gang of fan excitement for the team.
Sorry. He’s already won.
I wonder, though, does CB put us back in the ECF and eventually Finals?
Or, does it make us the fourth seed with a second round match-up with the apparently invulnerable Cavs?
Yes, we’d definitely be better off with CB — but we wouldn’t be a chip contender, and I don’t think Joe D will settle for anything less.
April 24th, 2009 at 12:04 pmLove CB & love seeing him play well. As much as I hated the trade, CB wasn’t doing the things he is doing now & we sitll would have struggled against the younger athletic teams. Remember when LAL traded away Shaq & the Lakers missed the playoffs all together the next season, then got knocked out in round 1 the following season? That helped them get Bynum & eventually landed them Gasol & 2 years later they were back in the finals. We are in place to be back next year. No 2 year wait. The trade should make way for a nice young center piece to make us a strong contender for years to come. Have faith fans!
April 24th, 2009 at 1:29 pmI see what you’re saying, but I think the last week has actually validated the Billups trade. As awesome as he’s been, could he really make the difference against a far superior Cavs team? I say no. I posted about this very topic a couple days ago here: http://countthatbabyandafoul.blogspot.com/2009/04/one-step-back-how-many-forwad.html
April 24th, 2009 at 4:47 pmA few thoughts:
Yeah, Denver won 54 games this season. But that’s only 4 more than last year.
Denver got back starting center Nene this year who had been dealing w/ testicular cancer. He’s one of the best centers in the league.
Nugs were fortunate to not have any major injuries this year, enabling them to leapfrog those teams that did (Spurs, Blazers, Mavs, Suns).
Basically, yeah Chauncey made them better this year. But this isn’t the same Chauncey that would be playing w/ the Pistons. This Chauncey has something to prove.
And honestly, even with Chauncey, do the Pistons really beat the Cavs this year? Nope. Those w/ short term memory loss seems to forget that Chauncey was terrible against the Cavs in the 07 playoffs. The most glaring stats of that 6 game series: 23 turnovers, 21 assists. Yeah I sure do miss that.
