DET@MIA preview – snarky edition

Posted by pistonsnation

The Pistons (39-42, 18-22 road) will in Miami to take on the Heat (42-39) Tip off is 8:00 pm est from the American Airlines Arena and will be televised locally on Fox Sports Detroit

Heat Snapshot
Home record: decent
Last game: they lost
Last 10: win some, lose some
Vs. Pistons: We beat them once, they beat us twice

I haven’t been this excited for a regular season preseason-like game in quite awhile.  The Pistons are finishing up their first losing season since 2000-01 when they went 32-50.

No one will be playing for the Heat, especially not scoring champ (30.2 ppg) Dwyane Wade.  The Heat are locked into the th playoff spot and will be playing the 4th seeded Atlanta Hawks.

Similarly the Pistons will shut down most of their starters with Tayshaun Prince seeing a few minutes to keep his 494 game active start streak alive. Dan Feldman of Pistons Powered would prefer the Pistons give the starters a little burn to keep the rust off.

Memo to Mike Curry: FREE WALTER SHARPE!

Dropping 11 of their last 17 games it’s not a stretch to say that the Pistons have backed their way into the playoffs this year.  So it’s on to Cleveland where LeBron’s powder toss will officially kick off the 2009 NBA Playoffs.  The Pistons seem poised and ready to defy the odds:

Playing Cleveland, Boston or Orlando – it doesn’t matter at this point. If we can’t do this during the regular season, it is definitely going to be hard to do it in the postseason.” Mcdyess - HoopsWorld

It’s going to be an odd site when these playoffs start, seeing polls that are asking how many games the Pistons will win against the Cavs instead of the other way around.

I will not be watching this game. I guess I’ll wait for the high or lowlights from the blogosphere.

Can’t blame you too much. For me it’ll be a toss up between the game and changing the air in my tires as the current air is almost 2 years old!!
