Iverson done as a Piston
Posted by pistonsnationUPDATE: Auburn Hills– The Allen Iverson project in Detroit is over. The Pistons announced Friday they were shutting the all-star and former NBA scoring champion down for the rest of the season, including the playoffs - DetNews.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that guard Allen Iverson will miss the remainder of the season. The all-star guard missed 16 games between February 27 and March 28 after exiting a game at New Orleans with a sore back on February 25.
“After talking with Allen and our medical staff, we feel that resting Allen for the remainder of the season is the best course of action at this time,” said Dumars. “While he has played in our last three games, he is still feeling some discomfort and getting him physically ready to compete at the level he is accustomed to playing this late in the season does not seem possible at this point.”
Wow! Thoughts?
I think the truth is being veiled. I believe “physically ready” means “mentally ready”. How is he going to handle other teams offering him roles off the bench as opposed to designing an offense around which is the only way to integrate his game?

Yeah… The “thought” is Allen doesn’t deserve this crap. WAY too good a player and person.
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:12 pmIt’s better this way. Neither was helping the other.
Thanks for the cap space.
Very diplomatic of Joe. Now AI can go back to his nightclubs and parties. I can’t have you print here what I would have said to him. But hubby just rolled on the floor when I said it.
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:30 pmI could have told you this would’ve happened…and as far as I am concerned, peace out. What a disappointment…..
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:35 pmI’m sure his fans will find an interesting way to spin this.

April 3rd, 2009 at 4:45 pmall of that have anything bad to say about iverson can redirect your anger at the so called coach. he should have gotten a clue that when you put your starters on the bench after playing nine minutes in the first quarter and then they dont get back on the floor untill the five minute mark of the 2nd SMART
April 4th, 2009 at 1:06 amai limited to shoot joe dumars.. 24% only what do you think piston fans how could allen iverson help piston and slowness of this team why did they keep loosing, michael curry coaching is worst to bench ai too youre out off playoffs
April 4th, 2009 at 1:55 amDon’t know, pistonsnation. Don’t know how the fans could possibly spin this any more. Take it from a long time A.I. fan. This season has finally cured me. I’ve went from being excited about the potential of the trade, to trying to remain objective, to now just being relieved that he’s done. It finally peaked for me w/the complaining bout coming off the bench and the minutes. Had my fill.

April 4th, 2009 at 9:11 amI’m ecstatic.
The only thing I really want to know is what the conversation between Joe and AI really sounded like.
April 4th, 2009 at 9:26 amYuk! Everyone hoped he would do well. Pistons are a first class organization. They are free to say whatever they want, but they refuse to bash him. Kudos to Joe D for not letting AI destroy his team.
April 4th, 2009 at 11:04 amAI has got to go!!! He doesn’t deserve to wear the red, white and Piston Blue. Go complain about your minutes elsewhere, you’re back is fine, you’re just pissed about coming off the bench. Detroit doesn’t want someone who selfish like him. He doesn’t want Championships, he wants stats, and that doesn’t fly in the Motor City..
April 4th, 2009 at 12:02 pmAI had his chances to shine earlier in the season and didn’t (hardly). I’m sick of everyone pointing fingers at the coach, yes Curry has made mistakes but he’s not the one you should point fingers to first. That’s the easy way out. The players have failed, the only guys to play well that I can say are Bynum, Dyess, and Rip. AI has played with pain and injuries before, makes ya wonder since he couldn’t play through this one. So much for being a team player AI and accepting a new role.
April 5th, 2009 at 9:08 amAI’s body is telling him to slow down. AI’s brain says I don’t believe it.
April 5th, 2009 at 9:09 amDougie and all tou other piston rideing fagets. need to leave iverson alone.. hes a great player and dosent desreve to be on the bench playing for crap. so yes he can complain.. FUCK THE PISTON HATING FAGGETS
April 6th, 2009 at 3:10 pmfuck up pistons AI is too good for you sucks Curry.. dont know how to couch..
