Press Clippings

Peter Vecsey is reporting in the NY Post the Pistons players have no confidence in M.C. and view him as a JOE DUMARS puppet:
Now it’s more a lack of confidence in the rookie coach than a dislike of him, from what I’m told. “No confidence” is more like it, a veteran confided to a friend. “Psychologically we’ve lost confidence in him and I don’t know how you get that back.” Biggest gripe from two veterans: They’re convinced Curry is being told who to play by Joe Dumars.
- KENDRICK PERKINS fined 10K for his goon hip toss on MAXIELL. No suspension though.
- ALLEN IVERSON (accompanied by RASHEED WALLACE) reportedly hit up a ‘Sota Casino the night before the Wolves game with a $50K rubberband wallet. No comment, I’d just look like a big ‘ol hater.
- AMIR JOHNSON will be the full time starter because of his activity level, but we’ve heard that before…
- Pedestrian bas-ket-balllll unfamiliar to fans and players alike:
- SI’s Steve Aschburner on the state of Detroit Basketball:
The Pistons are caught in the switches right now, with Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess sent to the perimeter, Richard Hamilton on the bench, Allen Iverson off to the side, Chauncey Billups out in Denver and Rodney Stuckey with the basketball in his hands, eager to make something happen, on this possession, today and for a whole bunch of tomorrows
- In the same SI article IVERSON confirms his one-and-done status with the Pistons:
“Why should I go somewhere where they don’t play my style and I’m not utilized? I feel like I’m still effective in this game and I can be, if you put the ball in my hands,”
I say good luck, and leave Chauncey’s #1 on your way out the door.
- At least we raised some sort of BANNER this season. Bawitdaba beyotches!
Peter Vecsey is pretty well known for being sensational, and baseless. No specific players (other than vets) are mentioned here, just unnamed sources. Though I don’t think this is far fetched. Curry is and was not ready to lead this group. He’s a waffler and it’s been suspected since day 1 that he’s little more than a Joe D lackey.
“For me, Tayshaun and Rasheed — guys that have been here and won as many games as we did — this is tough for us,” Hamilton said. “We’re so used to being the bully, the team that goes out and wins, and wins a lot. We’re not used to the losing streaks and the stuff that’s going on right now.” - DFP

Curry has got to go if the Pistons want to move forward and/or attract any other great players. What player wants to come and play for a coach that may sit them on the bench so a bench player can get their time in????
February 2nd, 2009 at 7:00 pmYou bring up a real good point. Great players usually want to play for good/great coaches.
