‘Stonz look to gain ground control vs. Rockets

Posted by pistonsnation

The Pistons (24-18, 13-8 home) will host the Rockets (27-17) at the Palace tonight at 6:30 pm est. The game can be viewed nationally on .

Rockets’ Snapshot
Road record: 12-12
Vs. East: 9-8
Last game: 1/23 (Fri) L 102-107 @ Pacers
Last 10: 6-4
Streak: Lost 1
Injuries: Yao Ming (sore right knee), Ron Artest (right ankle bone bruise), Tracy McGrady (sore left knee)

Good News and bad news.

The good news first.  Having two of the most injury prone superstars in the game has again plagued the Houston Rockets.  The Rockets have been without either or both Tracy McGrady ( aka half-man/half-season) and the newest Rocket supastar Rapp’n Ron Artest for the last 19 combined games.  Now they might have to give it a go without Yao Ming who took a knee-to-knee hit against Indiana on Friday.  If the three can’t go it’d mark the first game Houston has had to play without all three stars.

McGrady and Yao look to be game time decisions.

In other good news, we’ve won a Sunday game so there’s no danger of going 0-8.

Now the bad news.  Despite all the injuries the Rockets are still winning games.  At 27-17 they’re the West’s current 5th seed.  Houston has a great bench that has carried the load in the absense of their star players.  Guys like Luis Scola, Rafer Alston, Von Wafer, Chuck Hayes and Carl Landry have answered the call for coach Rick Adelman.

Also in bad news is the fact that the Pistons played like garbage in their last outing giving up a season high 112 points against Dallas.  The balance Michael Curry was in search of was not found, probably because he couldn’t break it off with his small ball sweet heart.

Kwame, oil up the rust spots, you’re starting tonight to combat Yao’s  7′6″ness & 300+ lbs.

Game Day Film – Rockets

Playing the ‘Rockets’ gives me an excuse to post one cool ass song.  David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” from 1969.

This is ground control to Major Curry,
you’re coaching in a most peculiar way,
and our team looks very different today

Pistons Nation is blue,
ditch small ball or we’re through…

Game Day Films are video posts loosely relative to the Pistons opponent and hopefully mildly entertaining.
