Pistons @ home to take on Hornets
Posted by pistonsnationThe Pistons (22-16, 12-6 home) will be hosting the New Orleans Hornets (23-13) Tip off is 7:30 pm est from the Palace of Auburn Hills and will be televised locally on Fox Sports Detroit
Hornets’ Snapshot
Road record: 11-8
Vs. East: 6-6
Last game: 1/16 (Fri) L 78-92 @ Cavaliers
Last 10: 6-4
Streak: Lost 1
The Pistons are looking to avoid losing 5 straight games for the first time since March of 2003. To do that they’ll have to beat one of the West’s best in the Hornets.
Like the Pistons, the Hornets too played last night falling (badly) to the short-handed Cavs in Cleveland. We’ve got a favorable recent history against the Hornets winning 7 of the last 8 by a 14.3 point margin. But that didn’t do too much for us against the Bobcats, Pacers, or Thunder. So, hopefully the Pistons playing their best against the better teams will hold true tonight.
Defense has to come through tonight. The Hornets cam be a load down low with Tyson Chandler and David West (20pts, 7rbs). Then they’ve got sharp shooters on the perimeter. As Keith Langlois points out on Pistons.com Rasual Butler, James Posey and Peja Stojakovic – are all better than 40 percent shooters from the arc for a team that takes 19.3 triples a game. Oh, and they’ve also got the Assosiations best floor general in Chris Paul who’s averaging a double-double (20.7 points and 11.1 assists).
Tayshaun Prince (strained a groin muscle) and Rip Hamilton (hyperextended right elbow) will probably be game time decisions.
ALSO OF NOTE: The Pistons have been out rebounded by their last 3 opponents … Pistons rank 26th in offense … Curry still serving up the 3-guard Kool-Aid … The Hornets have been outscored by an average of 20ppg in the last 3 meetings with the Pistons … The Hornets shot 37.3% against the Cavs … Time Running Out for Detroit Pistons … The Hornets picked up 5 techs last night in Cleveland … The Grizzlies will honor Dave Bing on Monday for his contributions to civil and human rights … OT: Devin Harris has scored himself a Playmate …

I think it’s to the point where Coach IDIOT, is just going to force feed us small ball like a mad scientist until we all conform and become his little puppets and do as he wants us to do, and agree with him that small ball is the best thing to ever happen to this team.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:50 pmIn other news I see bad news coming tonight. I see us having a chance to win it but in the end AI’s shots aren’t going to fall in the 4th and RIP is going to pull up for 7 and 8 footers when he should take it all the way to the hole and finish it. I think Bynum will get a ton of run and he will miss an open layup in the 4th quarter again tonight and it will sum up the night for us.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:55 pmSorry to be the bringer of bad news but maybe we should go for a lottery pick this year, at this rate I think it will happen. It’s really sad though that Dyess is going to leave the league without a ring. The one guy on this team that deserves a ring more then anyone else, the guy that goes out there night in and night out and gives it his all the guy that sweats and bleeds for the game he loves. I honestly would have rather seen the guy go to Boston to win his ring then have to come back to this mess. But he’s also the most dedicated SOB out there.
I agree about Dyess, except the Boston part. *shudders*
I agree that it makes me shudder to think of Dyess in Celtics green but at the same time ever since he game here he’s been the best player we have (and I figure you know what I mean by that) I think I should thank Nat for getting me hooked on the Ice_for_dyess thing. I also now that I think about it don’t think he would enjoy winning it there as much as he would if he could celebrate it here with all his friends on the team and in Michigan.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:27 pmHere’s to hoping that the Pistons can pull their heads out of their asses tonight against the Hornets and get a win and do all that other stuff they use to do that is non-existent now. I’m now gonna go get ready to watch a team I know can win today in Michigan State.
I’d love nothing more than to see Dyess that that elusive ring in the red, white, and Pistons’ blue.
My fingers are crossed, but they’re cramping up a bit.
Just imagine we could be seeing Dyess in baby powder blue! Now that makes me shudder. Or we could see him in one of the Lebroners 9 or 10 different jerseys. You think the team would listen up if Dyess went off on them again like he did last year. I’d love to see him telling the team off for how they are playing lately.
