Here’s a look at what’s being said about the Pistons most recent Sunday belly flop.
Tom Ziller at Fanhouse on Iverson being irked by 4th quarter pining:
Curry needed Iverson back on the floor for the last minute. Iverson looked extremely irritated by the call. On the team’s last possession, the ball swung to A.I. behind the arc with the team (down five) needing a quick score to have a chance. He passed it off immediately, despite being pretty open. Once Tayshaun Prince’s three rimmed out and the Hawks captured the rebound, A.I. made no attempt to chase and foul the rebounder.
SLAM on the same thing:
Sheed and Stuckey each had 20 for Detroit, but AI had a piddling 10 points (even though he played almost 41 minutes). Worse, we may have seen a fracturing between AI and Mike Curry. Perhaps a loss like this will force Coach Curry to re-consider using 7 starters. Maybe 8 or 9 should start from now on? Michael Curry is not afraid to think outside of the box!
Curry calls out A.I.’s ball watching, and Iverson agrees:
”It was just mental lapses. You can’t ball-watch and Allen struggles ball-watching sometimes. Bibby made him pay.”
[...]
“He got into transition a couple times and I lost him three or four times, and he was able to hit 3s and they jumped out to a big lead. Just ball-watching. Once guys dropped it to the basket, I was looking at the ball. And when they would throw it back out, and he does a good job moving around, and I just got lost on a couple of them.”
Peachtree Hoops sums up the Hawks secret to success yesterday:
I guess when you’re the second-most dysfunctional team in the building and you play pretty good defense for most of the game you can survive a 33-point second half.
A “sorrowful” Need4Sheed ponders Curry’s rotation:
I really was never anti Michael Curry but sometimes his decision make me wonder which usually leads to anger after the outcome.
