Jazz Snapshot
Road record: 6-7
Vs. East: 4-9
Last game: 12/17 (Weds) W 103-92 @ Nets
Last 10: 5-5
Streak: Won 1
Injury: Carlos Boozer (strained left quadriceps tendon)
What do you think of when you hear the expression ‘thorn in the side’? If you’re a Pistons fan you most likely will think of the Utah Jazz. We have not beat the Utah Jazz since March of 2005. Three straight years of season sweeps. Not even the franchise best 64 win season in 2005/06 could produce a win against the team from the “Beehive State”.
This game will provide a barometer for Rodney Stuckey going up against Deron Williams (12.9 ppg, 10.1 apg). It’ll be a great test for Stuckey because Williams is such a similar point guard in skillset and size. Williams is one of the few guys Rodney will go up against that’ll be able to match both his strength and quickness.
The Pistons will not get a chance to see possible free agent target Carlos Boozer tonight. The all-star PF who has missed the last 15 with injury made headlines on Wednesday when he told ESPN.com “I’m opting out. No matter what, I’m going to get a raise regardless”. In Boozer’s place the equally rugged Paul Millsap has been a double-double monster.
Utah isn’t a small team so perhaps an Amir Johnson and/or Kwame Brown sighting after the 4 game DNP hiatus for both?
ALSO OF NOTE: Pistons will be going for their first 4 game win streak since opening the season 4-0 … High praise for the Palace experience from north of the border … The Pistons lost 9 straight to the Jazz between 1991-96 … A stat spin to make John Stockton look better than Isiah … Jazz came from 22 down to beat NJ on Weds … Jazz in top 10 of worst sports team names … The Pistons are 6-1 when Stuckey starts … Pistons and Jazz players on all-underrated team … Curry on WDFN: Iverson, Hamilton still adjusting to new roles … OT: Brandon Roy goes for a career high 52 points in Blazers victory over the Suns …
