Game day chat – Truth About It

Posted by pistonsnation

As we wait to watch our red, white, and blue heroes take the floor and go for a third straight win here’s a chance to get inside the other guy’s dome.

Kyle from the Wizards’ blog TruthAboutIt.net and I got together for a little Q&A on our respective bball squads.  Here’s Kyle’s answers to the four part Wizard-centric inquisition.

1) What are your thoughts on Agent Zero’s knee issues on the heels of him signing his big ‘ol contract. Can Gilbert save the season upon his return?

Sure, a third surgery to “clean out debris” was frustrating, but not as much as Arenas’ lack of communication on the whole subject. With the contract, I’m still in ‘wait-and-see’ mode. Gil can still be worth the money, but he’ll need to change his game (more distribution) for the team to be a winner. He’s also somewhat on thin ice in the opinion of many fans.

Save the season? Well, it all depends on your definition of ’save’ — if it means something like the playoffs…..yea, riiiiight. But regardless of how bad the Wizards are when Arenas is 100%, he needs to be back on the court. He needs to get his basketball legs and reacquainted with his teammates. If he can show even a glimpse of (good) things to come, then there will be some hope among Wizards Nation.

2) If you could flip flop the Wizards & Pistons ‘07 draft positions would you take Rodney Stuckey or are you pleased with Nick Young?

When the Wizards and Pistons first met this season, my confidence in Nick Young was building…..but I was still undecided on who I’d rather have. Now, I haven’t totally given up on Young, but seeing how Stuckey’s game has developed in his strength, ability to drive, create, and defend, I begin to see qualities that I’d rather have in a player over the ability to dribble the ball around 5-6 times, come close to carrying, and then hitting a sweet fade-away J.

3) Did Eddie Jordan deserve the ax? Out of all the available coaches who would you like to see running the Wiz?

Nah, he didn’t…..as you can see by the Wizards’ record since, the players have lost themselves, and it’s not really the case of a coach losing them. But what’s done is done……the future? I haven’t thought about it, nor cared, too much for some reason. Names like Avery Johnson, Mark Jackson and Flip Saunders don’t get me enthused. Tom Thibodeau’s (Celtics assistant/defensive guru) name has come up in circles. He was all set to come to the Wizards before last season, but wisely backed out (he’s got a ring now)….but maybe the head job would entice him?

4) Name your top three favorite players to play for both Washington and Detroit?

Photo: viewimages1. Rip – relentless movement on offense makes me feel like I’m getting a workout

2. ‘Sheed Wallace – I’ve come to appreciate and laugh at his antics.

3. Anyone but Kwame Brown……so I’ll go with Michael Curry. (sorry Jarvis Hayes, Jerry Stackhouse, Mike James, Juan Dixon, Hubert Davis, Bobby Simmons, Brian Cardinal, and anyone else that I’m forgetting) …Oh yea…how could I forget Benny Wallace, Chris Webber……

I gotta get an honorable mention in there for Rick Mahorn and Darrell Walker. Also, Bobby Simmons, never a Piston.
