Game #21: Pistons get a win

Posted by pistonsnation

Pistons prevail in a close game. It’s not the kind of response I personally was hoping for, but I shudder to think of how bonkers the red, white, and blue faithful would be today if the Pistons had dropped their 4th straight to south of 5-hundy squad. {box score}

Not much time to follow the regular recap format, so I’m going to do a glass half full/empty bullet mesh.

GLASS HALF FULL

  • It’s a win: In the standings all wins count the same.  So ends the losing streak, maybe the most futile since, well, I don’t know.
  •  Rip roll’d: Listen up Pistons fans, Rip’s never gonna run around and desert you.  Rip is getting his scorers touch back.  Twenty-eight (11/20 FG, 2/3 3pt) points after scoring 29 against Washington.  Rip’s points are coming in the flow of the offense (+13 +/-) which is a great thing.
  • Stuck up: Rodney Stuckey continues to show he’s ready and worthy of his promotion to starter. Stuckey did a good job of running the show.  Stuck went for 21pts, 9asts, 4rbs, 3stls in 33 minutes.  Seven-for-eight from the field and 4/5 from 3pt land.  Who knew Stuckey could shoot the deep ball like that?
  • No rust for Dice: You’d never be able to tell Antonio took a month off, well besides his fresh legs.  His mid range game is looking as good as ever.  Dice scored 12 in the second, 14 for the game on 7/10 shooting.
  • Nice Answer Iverson:  AI has taken a gang of heat during this losing streak because he’s not out there killing it.  Well, this isn’t 2001 and these aren’t the Philly Sixers.  Iverson played a great team game.  Twelve helpers to go with 17 points (6/12 FG).  I believe Iverson recognized that Rip and Stuck had it going and deffered which really impressed me.  There also seems to be some pretty good chemistry between he and Dice already.

GLASS HALF EMPTY

Defense?:  Still no defense, instead a shootout giving up 110 points.  The Pacers shot 56.5%.  That percentage was aided by wayyy too many uncontested bunnies.    Danny Granger goes for 33 in the last meeting and a career high 42 last night?  The Pacers were a Jeff Foster bucket away from having 7 players in double figures.
