76ers @ Pistons -The compendious preview
Posted by pistonsnationThe Pistons (11-6, 5-3 at home) will be hosting the Philadelphia 76ers (8-11) Tip off is 8:00 pm est from the the Palace of Auburn Hills and will be televised locally on Fox Sports Detroit
76ers’ Snapshot
Road record: 3-6
Last game: 12/3 (Weds) L 114-102 Vs. Lakers
Last 10: 4-6
Injuries: Elton Brand (right hamstring strain)
This will be the first meeting with the, to this point, disappointing Philly Sixers. Disappointing because they looked like a team on the verge of making noise in the East, and that was before signing the summer’s top free agent Elton Brand. Instead of competing for Eastern supremacy the 76ers are 8-11 and in last place in the Atlantic Division.
Like Iverson here, the Sixers are still having growing pangs with their all-star acquisition. Elton Brand’s (16.7 ppg, 10 rpg) has had his ups and downs in the City of Brotherly Love. One of the main reason is that they’re in desperate need of perimeter shooting to give Brand some breathing room down low. But, No reason to fret Brand having an up game tonight, he isn’t playing. The most likely to start in his place would either be former Piston Theo Ratliff or 6′10″ rookie Marreese Speights (16th overall pick, Florida). UPDATE: it’s Spreights
Andre Iguodala surely hasn’t benefited from the Brand signing. At 13.9 ppg Iggy is now the Sixers 4th best scorer having moved over to shooting guard to accommodate EB in the lineup.
You have to think on the heels of the Phillies winning the World Series the fans of Philadelphia were primed to root winner on the hardcourt, but such is the life of a Philly fan.
As Pistons fans we can not accept anything less than a victory against a struggling team that will be without their leading scorer at the Palace.
