Game #11: Come back win

Posted by pistonsnation

The Pistons and Cavs traded halves.  The Cavs won the first half leading by 11 after two quarters, but the Pistons took over after halftime and halted Cleveland’s win streak at eight. {box score}

After being down by 13 the Pistons surged past the Cavs with an unfamiliar late game cast.  Starters Rasheed (21 pts, 15 rbs) and Allen Iverson (23 pts,  4 stls) were joined by Arron Afflalo, Jason Maxiell, and Rodney Stuckey.

The fivesome was able to break down Cleveland’s interior defense, while at the other end digging in defensively themselves.  It’s a lineup that just worked against the Cavs.  Kudos to M.C.

The Pistons were able to get enough penetration to finally outscore an opponent in the paint, doubling up the Cavs 44-22.

Ben Wallace wasn’t familiar with what he seen in his former team:

“Their style of play has definitely changed,” said Wallace. “They’re forced to play a different style of basketball.” -mlive

Rasheed Wallace’s back-to-back deep 3-point bombs were as thrilling as they were timely as the provided the cushion the Pistons needed to pull ahead for good.  It seemed as LeBron James (25 pts on 8/21 shooting) tried to replicate Sheed’s triple endeavors except his versions were supremely clanktastic.

Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince both got the whole 4th  quarter off which should bode well for tonight’s matchup against the Celtics.

GAME NOTES: The Afflalo to Maxiell oop was #3 on ESPN’s top 10 … Here’s a blogger not sold on Joe D … Don’t leave your streak around the Pistons … Bobcats entering McDyess raceWaiting for Next Year recapper … Arron Afflalo was a +12 for the game … Rip Hamilton with 15 pts, 5 asts …

    Curry’s secret seems to be to stick Arron on unstoppable players for the second half of games.

    It worked on the Lakers, and it worked on the Cavs.
