Det@GSW – the compendious preview
Posted by pistonsnationThe Pistons (5-2) will be in Oakland to take on the Warriors (3-5) Tip off is 10:30 pm est from the ORACLE Arena and will be televised nationally on ![]()
Warriors’ Snapshot
Home record: 2-2
Last game: 11/11 (Tues) W 113-110 (OT) vs. T-Wolves
Vs. East: 1-1
Injuries: Al Harrington (strained lower back) – doubtful, Corey Maggette (strained left hamstring) – questionable, Monte Ellis (moped rash + team suspension) – out
The Warriors lost some key pieces this past offseason. Most notably Baron Davis who signed with the Clippers, small forward Mickaël Piétrus signed with the Magic, sharp shooter Matt Barnes signed with the Suns, and they lost their mascot to OKC.
They also picked up a couple of nice players in Corey Maggette and Ronny Turiaf. They’ve had some bad luck with injuries to Maggette, and the Monte Ellis moped incident. To compound, forward Al Harrington has asked for a trade being unhappy with coach Don Nelson.
Through the early adversity Stephen Jackson has been holding it down for G-State averaging team highs in points (23.3 per) and assists (5.6 per) while center Andris Biedrins is averaging big board numbers at 14.3 per (2nd in league).
The Pistons are coming off their first post-trade win gutting one out in Sacramento after two unsuccessful attempts against New Jersey and Boston. The Pistons will again be without Rodney Stuckey who’s taking one more game to get right after he experienced dizziness against the Celtics at half time and did not return to the game. Stuckey is expected to return to the lineup Friday against the Lakers. Will Bynum anyone?
The Warriors were popular trade rumor partners of the Pistons over the summer. There was Sheed & Chauncey for Harrington & Davis, Billups for Andris Biedrins, and supposedly there was some talk about Tayshaun for Stephen Jackson.
ALSO OF NOTE: This game was picked up by TNT after the trade. It’s the second game of a double-header, the first game is Cavs/Nuggets who are 3-0 with Chauncey … You Posting Up yet? … The Warriors have lost their last two games vs. the Pistons …GSoM Preview … Cavs in hot pursuit of McDyess via DBB … Shaq shoves his way to #10 on all-time scoring list … Greg Oden returns …

I appreciate the link to A Stern Warning.
Looks like a little bit more time for the Pistons to iron out the Iverson-induced creases before they get in synch again. But I think they’ll be strong once they get it together…
