Press Clippings

Charlie Rosen of Fox Sports runs down his list of teams that could prevent a Celtics/Lakers Finals rematch.  He has the Pistons #3 in the list of Eastern Conference “wannabes” behind #1 Cleveland and #2 Orlando.

3) To mount a serious challenge to Boston, the Detroit Pistons need a return to greatness by Chauncey Billups, anything from Antonio McDyess, some stalwart defense from Kwame Brown, a few jump shots from Jason Maxiell and the continued development of Rodney Stuckey. Above all else, the Pistons can only supplant the Celtics if Rasheed Wallace decides to bust his butt in every minute of every game.

Never been a fan of Charlie Rosen and this article does nothing to sway me.  But there is a silver lining.  It’s just more fuel for the underdog fire and we all know that the Pistons are best in that role.

RIP HAMILTON , voted by NBA GMs as best without the ball, credits Michael Jordan (*cringe*) for helping helping him early on with his offense:

“The one thing he always told me to do, he said ‘Rip, you don’t have to force nothing, just study the offense. Know everybody’s position and know where you can get scoring opportunities out of it,’ ” Hamilton said.

MICHAEL CURRY’S goal for TAYSHAUN this season:  NBA All-star

”I expect Tay to be an all-star,” Curry said following this morning’s practice. “I expect him to be an all-star, he’s played at that level and I think by taking Dice (Antonio McDyess) out of the starting lineup, that puts more things to be run for Tay.”

Any writer who talks about the Pistons prospects this year and doesn’t mention Amir isn’t worth reading much less paying attention to.
