Lot’s of good stuff to check out while we wait for Wednesday’s game.
MAXIELL’s contract situ. Chris McCosky thinks Jason’s agent is rolling the dice with Max’s money:
So for Maxiell, a role player, albeit a productive and important one, to think teams are going to line up to pay him a starter’s salary is a bit delusional. Ask Bulls guard Ben Gordon. He turned down a $50 million offer and couldn’t get anybody else to offer anything close to that — other than a team in Greece.
McCosky makes some pretty good points and comparisons as to why 3yrs/15 mill is a solid offer from the Pistons. Meanwhile Maxiell’s restricted free agency has this Cavs blog pining for Maxy’s services over those of Anderson Veraflop:
On the other hand, Maxiell averages a solid double-figure scoring number. He blocks nearly a full shot more per game, and hits 54 percent of his shots. His rebounding numbers are a bit lower - about two fewer per game. This would likely be the biggest negative about Max, at least in comparison to Andy.
To that I say wait until Max signs for silly money years down the road with another team. Then when that team realizes he’s on a rapidly winding downward spiral pick him (& contract) up via trade based upon what he used to be here in Detroit. (too harsh?)
