Pistons Flip Saunders off

Posted by pistonsnation

So the first shot has been fired, or should I say the coach has been fired. If you read the first line of the linked Detroit News article it’s a mandate straight from Bill Davidson, who apparently is lucid enough to name a scapegoat. This is sure to be the first of many changes for this team. Expect some player accountability to come.

As for a replacement, are we to assume Michael Curry is the front runner?

I kinda expected Flip to go but I’d rather have Rasheed get traded. His attitude and focus was missing in action against the Celtics in games 5 and 6. I really don’t want to break up the backcourt of Chauncey and Rip. Do not trade Dyess either, let him come off the bench next season. I’d be tempted not to trade Tayshaun either. I hope Joe Dumars reads this, do not hire a coach until you ask or talk to Avery Johnson. Hire this man! He’ll motivate the players! Hire Avery.

Didn’t Avery get fired for the same reason as Flip though?

I’m not sure, I think you might be right though. I think Mark Cuban felt like he had get rid of him after they got knocked out of the 1st rd prior to getting 2 games from the title in ‘06. Some have said Avery I think lost his voice, I think the problem is a lot of the Mavs players aren’t mentally tough.
