At half time it looked like we were lining up the Magic for a second straight blow out victory but a flurry of three pointers in the third quarter got the Magic back into the game.
The game was tied at 29 at the end of one, but then the Pistons turned up the D and started to pull away in the second holding the Magic to 11 points in the quarter and taking a 10 point lead into half time.
Orlanado got back into the game in the third by going to their bread-and-butter, the long ball. After connecting on just two of their fifteen three point tries in game one the Magic hit eleven of the twenty-six they attempted in game two, seven of them coming in consecutive fashion in the third.
Then there’s the controversy of Chauncey Billups (28 pts, 4 asts) last second three that put the Pistons back up by two at the end of the third. The replay did show that the shot was late and shouldn’t have counted and it’s too bad it couldn’t be reviewed. I don’t think it’s a major issue though. The Pistons won by seven. Plus, it really wasn’t a momentum swinging shot since the Pistons had to battle back for the victory in the 4th.
It’s easier for me to say because I’m a Pistons fan, but I honestly don’t feel the end result of this game would have been any different had that shot not counted.
