The Pistons are putting their potential playoff opponents on notice, the message: we have depth.
Detroit got another chance to rest the regulars. None of the regular starters played more than 25 minutes. Keeping them fresh while not letting any rust set in.
The Pistons bench accounted for 45 points, 49 when you factor in Arron Afflalo’s contributions who started for Rip.
Rodney Stuckey continues to spread his wings each time out. Rodney led the bench in scoring with 14, grabbed 5 boards and dished out a career high 9 assists. It’s been said before but Stuckey playing under Billups is a perfect fit for Stuckey. He, like Billups, came into this league purely as a scorer but unlike Billups, Rodney Stuckey has a master teaching him how to involve his teammates. Stuckey has the luxury of not having to be the man. He can sit back, learn and pick his spots which he’s been really taking advantage of these last few games.
If you’re a Piston fan you were pumping your first every time you seen Dice draining his shots. Antonio has struggled to find his touch all year. If he’s hitting too…fa getta bout it. Dice finished with 19 points, 6 boards and a couple blocks and steals.
GAME NOTES: Rasheed Wallace led the game in scoring and rebounding, 17 & 8…Detroit has won 7 straight over the Nets and have swept the season series for the second consecutive year…29 assists for the Pistons who are now 26-0 when totaling 25 or more in a game…Pistons outrebounded Nets 48-31…The Pistons never trailed and led by as many as 27 points…[Box score]
