While teammates were weighing in on the Lakers acquiring Pau Gasol, Rasheed had this to say:
“I could care less about that (stuff),” Wallace said. “It’s got nothing to do with me, it ain’t affecting me in no way. If it works for them, good. I’ll see them in June.”
More Sheed, this time on how to beat the Mavericks:
“We’ve just got to put their (butt) in a hole on the other end, put their (butt) right down there on them chop blocks (the post),” Wallace said. “They don’t have no real big men, actually. The only real big man I’d say is Damp (Eric Dampier) because he fits that classic big man mold. … But they’ve got a lot of slashers on their team. It’s a team full of slashers. I’m not saying they’re not good, but, hey, in order to hold their slashing down, put their (butt) on the chop blocks.”

Joe Dumars on Jarvis Hayes’ struggles to find his shot:
That’s the nature of a gunslinger and we acquired him and put him in the role of a gunslinger. You come off and you look for shots because that’s how you’re going to make a difference for us. You’ve got to come in and look for shots. If you go back into the history of the league, good teams have always had guys who come off and – boom! – whether it’s Brent Barry or Eddie House in Boston now or Barbosa or Vinnie Johnson back when we played, good teams always have those type of guys. We had Jon Barry here. And they’re not going to always be on. They’re going to go through spurts where they’re great for 10 games and then go through spurts where they can’t hit shots. When you put a guy into that role, you have to accept as a team what you’re asking from that guy is high-risk, high-reward. He had a stretch where he couldn’t miss. Now he has a stretch where it’s hit and miss a little bit. I accept that from that particular position. Gunslingers, they’re hit and miss.
Cheikh Samb update: Mr. Samb got himself a triple-double in his second game back with the Mad Ants of the D-League. Cheikh scored 12, blocked 11 shots, and pulled down 12 boards in 38 minutes. Unfortunately it came in a 103-123 loss to the Sioux Falls Skyforce. While he’s only been with the Ants a total of four games he’s got some pretty encouraging averages. For example: 75% free throwing, 52% FG, 13.5 ppg, 9.5 rbg, and 5.5 bpg. Samb and the Ant’s next game is Tuesday the 5th Vs. Sioux Falls, which is pretty baseball-esque because it’ll mark the third successional game that their opposition is the Skyforce.
