[box score] For the second time the Pistons come into a matchup with the Bulls on a win streak and playing well and again Chicago put an end to the good feelings. When it comes to the Pistons playing the Bulls the records have to go out the window. These were familiar foes who were looking for something positive to draw from an otherwise disappointing start to the season.
From the outset the Bulls were out hustling the Pistons crashing the offensive boards. The Bulls ended up with 20 second chance points on the night. They also killed us overall on the glass 51-39.
It seemed since the Pistons had been winning in such a glamorous fashion they forgot what it takes to win a good ‘ol “grind it out” style of game. The offense also looked stagnant for most of the game.
Ben Wallace got a big shot in the arm to what’s been a very disappointing season so far for him and Bulls’ fans. Ben gained only his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds (7 offensive), he also blocked 4 shots. Get this though, he went 8 out of 9 from the free throw line? This after only making 10 of the 30 free throws he attempted for the entire season! Heck, Skiles was feeling so good about Ben’s night he had him out there in the 4th quarter. It’s also pretty ironic that this throwback Ben Wallace performance came against the Pistons on a Hardwood Classic night.

QUOTES:
Dice sums it up:
“Definitely disappointing,” said Antonio McDyess. “They might’ve been struggling, but for some reason, they are always up to play us and we didn’t respond like we should. We were just out there going through the motions. We didn’t have our normal energy.”
