[box score] Rasheed turned in his best scoring output as a Pistons (36), but he didn’t get enough support from the other boys in blue.
It was a close game, but the Pistons really couldn’t sustain any runs. Chicago also had more of a total team effort helping them get off the winless snide.
As brilliant as Rasheed was going work down low and hitting long range bombs, Tayshaun and Antonio McDyess were as equally unimpressive combining 12 points off of 7 shot attempts.
One thing that stood out was the Pistons inability to keep Chicago out of the paint, with a special nod going to Tyrus Thomas. It seemed that every defensive board in the first quarter was in jeopardy of going to Chicago Bulls that weren’t boxed out. The Pistons were outscored in the paint 26-42 and we lost the board war 36-47. The Bulls had 15 offensive rebounds to our 7.
The other bullet point is the lack of bench production. Our bench was outscored by Chicago’s 13-31 & was out-boarded 6-17.
This game also seen Flip Saunders revert back to heavy starter minute ways. No starter played under 35 minuted only Jarvis Hayes was the only bench player that got over 12 minutes, he played 20.
GAME NOTES:
- Rasheed had 9 rebounds to go along with his 36 points. You know that’s gotta put on smile on N4S’ face.

- Tayshuan Prince wowed the United Center crowd with his “Great Taydini” disappering act
- Rip picked up a tech for tripping Tyrus Thomas, but why was no foul called on Thomas for landing on top of Rip after blocking his shot?
- Classy Chicago fans with the “Detroit Sucks” chant
- They sure are paying Ben Wallce a lot not to play him
- The Bulls got 19 points off 17 Detorit turnovers
- The Pistons and Bulls were only seperated by roughly 1 FG% point(44.4%-45.9%), but Chicago shot 13 more times
- Kirk Hinrich had 14 assists
- When was the last time Joe Smith was relevent?
- MORE MAXIELL! I think he could have been a real spark plug had he gotten more minutes and gotten in the game earlier
GAME QUOTES:
Rasheed on his performance:
“It ended with an ‘L’,” Wallace said. “I could have scored a billion points but if we still lose, it doesn’t matter. I go by old-school values. We lost, so this don’t mean nothing.”
Scott Skiles on Rasheed:
“Scary is a good word to describe him,” Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. “He’s one of those guys who has an unblockable shot. You can’t get to it. I don’t care who you are, you just can’t get to it. You can just challenge it. And if it’s going in, it’s going in.”

The Detroit Pistons need a better balanced attack, when only one player had over 25 points there is a problem. The refs are out to get the pistons (ecspecially Rip). Jarvis Hayes needs to come in more often he is definitly a great guy to have on the team that has some experience on the team. I just don’t see the pistons going anywhere deep into the playoffs without another “go to guy” what do you think….But what I hope you are not thinking is that Kobe will come here because Joe D has already pulled him and his franchise out of the Kobe sweepstakes.

The reason Ben didn’t play much I suspect is because of his sore ankle.

I listened to the game on WDFN Radio via internet last night and noticed two refs that we got stuck with. Jack Nies is one, he has a very short fuse. I saw him T Sheed up a couple years ago over some stupid calls, he also t’d up the other team I remember. Danny Crawford is the other. Although I’ve heard he is a good ref, I read somewhere some statistics that showed that when he refs, Pistons win less games. C’mon David Stern, at least get rid of Jack Nies. I don’t like that ref.

Although I’m disappointed we lost, we at least lost to a good team. It is much more upsetting when we lose to crap teams. Now, if we lose tonight to the Clippers, I’ll be disappointed. Let me add, when the Cavs come to our court I think at the end of this month, this has to be a W. If we don’t win against this team that knocked us out of the playoffs and shocked the world, I’ll be upset. Let’s whip their @$$ and show them they just got lucky last year.

It wasn’t a ref thing in this one. The Pistons kept their composure (Sheed & Rip).
The Pistons as a unit just didn’t give enough to go along Sheed’s efforts.

Tayshaun needs to be involved more, he had hardly any shot attempts. Also, is Dyess going to get comfortable starting or not? He almost seems afraid to shoot the ball.
Play the bench more, especially Maxiell and Murray. Hayes seems to be getting the most minutes from the bench. I would have played Afflalo a little more too.

The Bulls are not a good team….they were 0-4 before they played the Pistons.

Two things also worth pointing out about last night’s loss, turnovers and assists. 17 assists I believe. Bulls had 28. Better ball movement. Also, 17 turnovers is too many.

They’re a playoff team, but they may not be as good as people thought. Also, their 4 losses were to beatable teams.

KTL,
I’m not sure why you would say Bulls aren’t a good team. They are a great team, they do rely on jump shooting but they have a lot of firepower that can come from their guards. Deng is very good too. They play great defense as well. They kind of seem similiar to DET but younger and less experienced. I’m a Pistons fan, but I’m not going to say the Bulls aren’t elite. I find them more elite than the Cavs, even last year when we lost to Cleveland, I still think the Bulls are more talented.

Bulls are a talented, young team. They’ll win more than the Cleveland Crappers this season. They can get far without Kobe too.

Pistonsnation, the Bulls are good. I’m not sure why they lost to the Sixers, Bucks, Clippers. A couple were pretty close according to the box score. I don’t want to talk too much trash because we (Pistons) have lost to some junk teams last year. (although it can be argued we didn’t come to play)

Comapring the Bulls and Cavs is apples and oranges in my opinion. The Bulls are a way better TEAM than Cleveland.

LOL. I thought you’d agree the Bulls are more talented. Yep, a one band team ain’t gonna cut it every year.
