Pistons pick up Maxiell’s option, sign vet Fitch to camp

Posted by pistonsnation

It’s been announced that the Pistons have picked up the final year of Jason Maxiell’s rookie contract, worth somewhere around $1.9 mil. J-Max is now under contract in Detroit through the 2008-09 NBA season.

“Jason is a tough, physical player on the front-line who continues to grow and mature within our system,” team president Joe Dumars said in a statement. “We look forward to the contributions he will bring this season and beyond.”

Also in Pistons news, we’ve added Gerald Fitch to the training camp roster on a non-guarenteed contract.

Gerald Fitch, 25, is a 6′3″ guard who went undrafted out of Kentucky in 2004. Fitch last played in the NBA with the Miami Heat 2005-06, appearing in 18 games for the Champion Heat, with one start. Gerald has also seen time in Euroleague and Ukranian Superleague. Unless someone kidnaps Chauncey, Stuckey, Lindsey Hunter, Flip Murray, Sammy Mejia, and Hooper don’t expect Fitch to make the Pistons season roster.
