Good news Pistons’ fans, Mr. Big Shot will stay in Detroit with a contract that appeases both he and the Pistons. Now for a small forward signing (Hill…or maybe Mo Pete….or how about Desmond Mason?)
Assuming the basic parameters of the deal are correct, the contract would start at $9.75 million next season and increase 10.5% every year, capping at $14.5 million in the final year of the deal. Initial prognostication indicated that the contract would probably start in the $12-13 million dollar ball park, so the Pistons may have done very well for themselves. [MLive]
[Update]
“This is a vicious rumor,” Andy Miller, Billups’ agent, told the Free Press. “It’s entirely untrue. We have not reached an agreement. I don’t know what stage we’re at. We’re having ongoing discussions, and I don’t believe that we’re on the verge of signing an agreement anytime today by any stretch of the imagination.”
